Safety Standards

Big Bear Ziplines prides itself in the extra efforts we make to ensure that our guests are as safe as possible. When you participate in one of our tours, our Guides a.k.a. ‘Zip Pilots’ do all the work for you – you will never be responsible for working your equipment or braking yourself. We always send groups out with two professionally trained ‘Zip Pilots’ who will work with your gear and be there to ensure a safe and fun experience!

  • Our ‘Zip Pilots’ are required to pass a 50-hour training which includes written and practical exams.
    • Training is presented by Big Bear Ziplines’ Course Manager, Ralph in accordance with standards set forth by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) and the Professional Ropes Course Association (PRCA).
    • ‘Zip Pilots’ are shadowed on their first few tours to ensure that they are implementing their training to its fullest extent.
    • ‘Zip Pilots’ are CPR, First Aid and AED certified at the least.

  • Our course is built to PRCA standards and is inspected yearly by a Professional Vendor Member (PVM) of that association.
  • Every tree used to support an element has been inspected and approved for use by a certified Arborist.
  • We are also inspected yearly by the New York State Department of Labor.
  • Our company completes periodic inspections of the course and all of our gear as well.

  • We use top-of-the-line gear from manufacturer’s such as Robertson, Petzl, Liberty Mountain and many more.
  • Our zip cables are made of galvanized steel aircraft cable.
