- CLOSED-TOE shoes are REQUIRED in all weather conditions – this is for your safety. No refunds will be issued to those who arrive wearing open-toe shoes.
- Bright colors, long pants and long socks are recommended for your safety and to deter the bugs.
- Please refrain from wearing any loose items such as chains, necklaces, etc. In addition, it is advisable to remove any body piercings since you will be wearing a full-body harness and helmet.
Here are a few additional items that we suggest depending on the weather.
- Warm weather: comfortable, loose, breathable clothing, closed-toe shoes – preferably hiking or walking shoes/boots, a light jacket or fleece, long socks, mid-thigh or longer shorts/pants, or even a windbreaker depending on the temperature outside.
- Cold weather (snow and rain): ski pants, a ski/rain jacket and/or fleece layers, closed-toe shoes – preferably hiking or snow boots, snow gloves, hat, scarf, neck warmer or balaclava, long, wool or fleece socks, and/or ski goggles.
- Accessories: sunscreen, insect repellant, small backpack, etc.
-Can I watch from the ground?
Unfortunately, there are no spectator areas on the course. We require anyone on our property to be participating in a tour for safety reasons.
-What is the age limit?
There is no age limit, only a weight limit of 80-250lbs. The only restrictions we have in regards to age is that (1) anyone under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18 and a parent/legal guardian must sign their waiver and (2) anyone between the ages of 15 and 17 must have a parent/legal guardian sign the waiver for them. We also require one adult over the age of 18 to be participating in a tour for every 8 kids under the age of 15.
-Are there any requirements/restrictions?
For your safety, the safety of our guests and our Zip Pilots’ safety, please adhere to the requirements/restrictions listed below on the day of your tour in order to make your zip experience a more enjoyable one:
- All participants in your group must weigh 80-250lbs.
- Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied on the tour by an adult at least 18 years of age.
- We require one adult over the age of 18 to accompany every 8 children under the age of 15.
- All participants must wear closed-toe shoes.
- All participants must be in good health/physical condition with no recent injuries.
- NOT recommended for women who are pregnant.
- NOT recommended for those with predisposed medical conditions which may be affected by physical activity.
-How do I book my tour?
You can book your tour by visiting our Book a Tour page or by calling our office directly at 1.888.ZIP.BBZI(947-2294). FULL PAYMENT IS REQUIRED TO BE MADE to reserve your zip tour experience.
-How do I purchase a gift certificate?
You may call our office at 1.888.ZIP.BBZI(947-2294) to purchase as many gift certificates as you’d like. Gift certificates are redeemable towards the cost of a Zipline Canopy Tour or merchandise at Big Bear Ziplines. They cannot be used to purchase another gift certificate, promotion or toward previously purchased Zipline Canopy Tours and/or merchandise. They have an expiration date of 1 year after purchase date. When redeemed, they cannot be combined with other discounts/coupons/promotions/deals, etc. and cannot be redeemed for cash. The certificate must be present at the time of redemption. Other restrictions, terms and conditions may apply. GIFT CERTIFICATES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
-My gift certificate has expired, what can I do?
We will extend a gift certificate for additional 2 months from date issued for a minimal fee of $20. Every additional 2 months from date issued will be an additional $20 fee.
-I bought a daily deal and it has expired, what can I do?
If your daily deal has expired, we will honor it for the face value that you paid as a gift certificate to be used TOWARDS your tour cost. For example, if you received a $99 Zipline Canopy Tour at the price of $49.50, we will honor it as a gift certificate valued at $49.50 (the price you paid) to be used TOWARDS a Zipline Canopy Tour.
How does this help you? We extend this courtesy so that you do not lose the value you have already paid.
-How much does it cost?
Our pricing is reasonably valued against our competitors and the industry and varies depending on the tour you wish to participate in. Please visit our Book a Tour page for pricing.
-Do I have to sign a waiver?
Yes, there is a waiver to be signed upon arrival at our office. We do not provide digital versions of this waiver unless requested for children who are coming with someone other than their parent or legal guardian.
-When can I book my zipline tour?
Tour times vary by the day and/or the season – please visit our Book A Tour page for the most up-to-date information. We are open all year-round, so be sure to check out our winter-time zips too!
-How does a zipline work?
You will be securely fastened in a full-body ziplining harness made by Robertson connected to a trolley also made by Robertson. Your trolley attaches to the zipline to send you on the flight of your life. In addition, everyone will be given a Petzl helmet for your safety.
A professional, experienced Big Bear Ziplines ‘Zip Pilot’ will be there at the beginning and the end to help you with your take-offs and landings.
-Is this safe?
Big Bear Ziplines ensures that the course and equipment are inspected regularly according to industry standards which are set by the ACCT, the PRCA and the New York State Department of Labor. Please visit our Safety Standards page for more information.
-How long are the tours?
At least 2.5-3 hours based on an 8-person tour.
-How many people are in each tour?
Zipline Canopy Tours can have up to 8 people total. Night Zipping tours are STRICTLY limited to 8 people and there are 3 ‘Zip Pilots’ on these tours for safety. If you are looking to book a tour with more than 10 people, you must do so at least 4 weeks prior to ensure that we can staff efficiently.

-What if I don’t have 8 people to go with?
That’s fine! We will always pair you with other groups to fill up the tours however, we will only run tours of 2 or more people during out peak seasons. In late fall, winter and early spring or on a weekday, we usually require a minimum of 4 people to book before a tour will run.
-Do you accommodate large groups?

-What is the shortest and longest Zipline on your course?
182 and 1,400 feet long!
-What else does your Zipline course entail?
Have the time of your life flying on 8 ziplines, climbing fire truck ladders, swooping down tarzan vines and hiking through our 50 acres of woodlands and hay fields.
-Can I bring my camera with me?
We love pictures – our Zip Pilots are famous, just take a look at our Pictures and Videos pages! Beware though, you will be high up and things like money and such tend to fall out of your pockets – Big Bear Ziplines is not responsible for the loss or damage of any of your belongings. We do offer a cabinet to store small personal belongings or you are welcome to purchase a Big Bear Ziplines cinch pack to take on the tour with you!
-Do you have a storage area for guest belongings?
We have a small storage cabinet for things such as keys, wallets, etc. We sell drawstring backpacks that you can take on the tour in case you forget yours!
-Do you zip in any weather?
We do, but with discretion. It is up to our ‘Zip Pilots’ to make the call as to whether or not a tour will be cancelled. We usually will not cancel a tour more than 3 hours in advance as we like to review the radar and make sure we provide you with the best experience possible. -Are we supposed to tip?
Tipping your ‘Zip Pilots’ is a very generous thing to do. Without them you wouldn’t have this experience. They put a lot of time and effort into learning everything about the course, the industry and your safety. Normal tip is approximately $10-20 per guide.
