Big Bear Ziplines is a thrilling outdoor adventure for the Hudson Valley of New York and the metropolitan area; we are also the First CLOSEST Zipline Canopy Tour to New York City. We offer professionally guided Zipline Canopy Tours which run on variable schedules depending on the season.
Founded in 2008, Big Bear Ziplines opened its doors to the public in 2011 after making sure that our course was the best it could be and that everything met or exceeded industry safety standards.
The Beisiegel’s chose to open their own Zipline Canopy Tour when on a family vacation they enjoyed an exhilarating zipline tour at Princeville Ranch in Kuai’I, Hawai’i. After scoping out a few places to build a course, construction began in the summer of 2009 with the help of a few people. Together, they walked the 50 acres of land which had been chosen over and over to find the PERFECT lay-out for the course…how many lines will fit? What paths will participants follow? Which trees will be used?
The course was then mapped out; an Arborist checked the trees; Course Inspectors reviewed the lay-out; Land Surveyors assessed the property; the DEC came in and marked off wetlands and then finally in 2010 we hired our first Team Members. A few months later, the course met and exceeded ACCT and PRCA standards and was approved by the New York State Department of Labor as an amusement device…we were finally ready for business!
With unique braking systems designed by our team of professionals, custom-built platforms and fire truck ladders straight from real Roosevelt Fire District trucks, Big Bear Ziplines looks like no other course out there! Everything you will see was built specific to the lay-out of our course. The Big Bear Ziplines Team has created reality out of a dream.
Big Bear Ziplines is proud to be affiliated with the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce (DCRCOC), the Orange County Chamber of Commerce (OCCOC) and the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) through some of its Team Members. We meet and/or exceeed industry safety standards set forth by the ACCT and the Professional Ropes Course Association (PRCA) and have also been inspected and approved by the New York State Department of Labor as an amusement device.
